Antigen Preparation

Antigen selection is an extremely important step in the process of making a monoclonal antibody.  In order to guarantee the production of a specific monoclonal antibody in the shortest time possible, we encourage customers to discuss their antibody needs directly with our research team to ensure the correct selection of antigens.   We will advise on the design and manufacture of recombinant protein or recommend the appropriate peptide sequences and source these for the customer if required. The schedule below gives an idea of a minimum time scale for the production of recombinant protein to use as antigen.

Bioinformatics methods used to identify unique antigenic sequences specific to the customers needs

 2.5 days

Appropriate IMAGE clone identified, ordered and sequence verified

 8 days

PCR primer design and amplification of antigen from IMAGE clone

 4 days

Antigen cloned into bacterial expression vector

 9 days

Antigen expressed in codon optimised E.coli expression strain and recombinant protein purified

3 days

Purified recombinant protein is typically produced after one month.  Antigenic peptides can take up to three weeks, depending on manufacturer.
